Kyoto Shijo Kuon

Lovely, cozy restaurant with a great selection of udon and tempura skewers. We were seated upstairs on the tatami, adding to the authentic and relaxing atmosphere. The staff kindly recommended their signature combo and explained how to enjoy the sauce and dressing. Friendly and approachable service all around.

This is a must-eat if you’re in Kyoto. My family and I went here twice during our trip just because of how awesome the food was and the staff is very friendly and helpful with the menu and any questions. The udon is fresh, the curry is spiced perfectly and you MUST get the set dessert. Please try this restaurant during your trip to Kyoto, you will not be disappointed!!

A fantastic restaurant in central Kyoto. Very traditional and with a cozy atmosphere. Hand-made udon are delicious and the price is fine.

This is a unique Japanese udon restaurant. The udon noodles are very chewy and special. With four steps and four ways of eating, you can experience different textures and flavors.

This was the first time I had a keema curry udon but it was surprisingly good! The atmosphere was cozy and it was quiet but easy to talk. The almond jelly after the main is definitely worth trying:)

We really enjoyed our meal and the dessert pudding was amazing. I wish I could buy the pudding separately for takeaway! Lovely staff and ambience too.

Great find. Place makes noodles in-house and they were perfect texture and chewy. All meals come with a dipping sauce that was curry and chicken. I didn't realise that as the options were soy milk or bonito. I got the soy milk one and it was pretty tasty. I had the set with the 3 tempura sticks. Unfortunately you can't choose the ones you want. The ones you get are onion, eggplant and prawn which were all very good. Not too oily and the tempura batter is nice and light. Lovely atmosphere in the restaurant. Can pay by credit card.
